Why doesn't AI recommend my shop?

It's almost never a penalty, and it's rarely your product. Usually the assistant just needs clearer facts. AI pulls a handful of plain facts from your page and compares them across sources. When those facts are clear, complete and consistent, your great reviews and Google rankings can work for you in AI too.

It's almost never a penalty. AI recommends what it can verify. Fill in the facts in plain text and you're in the running.

The usual cause

Usually it's about clear facts.

The fix is usually simple. Help AI read you clearly.

A shopper looks at your page and gets it right away, from the photos to the price. An assistant works differently. It reads plain, labeled facts like what the product is, who it's for, what it's made of, what it costs and whether it's in stock. Then it checks those facts against other sources. When your facts are in text and match everywhere, the assistant can recommend you with confidence. A small independent shop can be just as clear as any big brand, because the steps are the same for everyone.

Great products with great reviews are often one small step from being recommended.

Common reasons

Five common reasons AI passes over a store

Most cases come down to one or two of these. Each has a simple fix.

Which one is yours?
1 · Vague titles
"The Luna" is a lovely name, and it doesn't tell a machine what the product is. A title like "organic cotton sleep mask" lets AI match you to the question.
FixName products the way people ask out loud.
2 · Facts stuck in images
AI reads text much better than words inside a picture. Materials, size and specs work best as text.
FixPut every fact in real text, too.
3 · No brand or ID
A clear brand name and identifiers let AI match your product to mentions of it elsewhere. That builds confidence.
FixState your brand + identifiers everywhere.
4 · Single-source (Etsy-only)
When you're found in more than one place, AI has more ways to confirm who you are.
FixWiden your footprint beyond one site.
5 · Thin trust signals
Few reviews, no About or policy pages, inconsistent brand naming. AI looks at these to answer "is this a real, reliable shop?" Strong signals give it confidence to recommend you.
FixBuild steady reviews, clear policies, and a consistent brand story.
Each of these is about clear facts and trust, and you can improve both.
Diagnose it yourself

How to tell which one is yours, in 5 minutes

You can start without a tool. This quick three-step self-test usually shows you where to begin.

The 5-minute self-test
Step 1 · Visibility
Ask the assistants
Try 3 or 4 natural phrasings ("best X for Y," "gift for someone who Z"). Do you show up for any?
Step 2 · Readability
Read one product page
Could a machine pull category, brand, ID, price, stock, materials and who it's for? Anything missing is an easy add.
Step 3 · Trust
Look off your store
Does anywhere else describe you the same way? Outside mentions are a good next step.
If step 1 comes up empty, start with readability. Steps 2 and 3 show you where.

The same product, two pages

What helps one shop get named

Two shops can sell nearly the same thing. AI usually recommends the one it can read more clearly.

Your move

Where to start

Start with the free, high-impact edits. Most shops see the biggest gains from the first two.

Rewrite your titles
Say what the thing is and who it's for, the way a person would ask. It's the biggest win and it's free.
Fill in the facts
Every attribute (material, size, use, recipient) in real text. Add your brand and identifiers so AI can match you.
Add one clear use-case / FAQ block
Answer the real questions a buyer asks. This is the "answer-format" content assistants tend to quote.
Get a couple of outside mentions
A few real third-party mentions, so others vouch for you too.
